Praying for Prodigals: A Journey of Hope and Faith
In Luke 15:11-32, we find the parable of the Prodigal Son. Through this parable, we see that praying for prodigals is not a one-and-done prayer, but rather a journey in prayer with love, hope, and faith.
When we gather to pray for prodigals, we see that the scriptures emphasize the importance of prayer for those who have strayed. Luke 15:20 describes the prodigal son's return:
"So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him."
This verse portrays God's unwavering and unconditional love, showing that God stands ready to welcome back prodigals with open arms.
Praying and walking with family, friends, and neighbors who are experiencing a similar situation is heartbreaking.
I encourage you to keep trusting in God as you pray together, cry together, and share your burden. Stay in God’s word and trust in His promises from scripture, like Isaiah 49:16:
"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me."
Don’t stop praying—prepare for the party as you expectantly wait for the prodigal’s return.
