Seeking Jesus First: A 119 Day Prayer Guide
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people-for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:1-4
Prayer GuideSeeking Jesus First: A 119-Day Prayer Guide
This prayer guide is designed to support and empower you as a follower of Christ.
The goal is to facilitate an application of 1 Timothy 2:1-4 through daily prayer focuses, Scripture readings, insights, prayer points, and songs.
Your role as a servant of God is crucial in a world that desperately needs His light, and this guide’s purpose is to encourage and help you seek God’s guidance as you fulfill your role.
The idea for this prayer guide came about when I realized that the 119th United States Congress will take the oath of office on January 3, 2025. After thinking on this gathering of government leaders, staff, family, and these elected officials’ constituents, I was inspired to put together this prayer guide for the first 119 days of Congress’s session, inspired by the profound wisdom and guidance of Psalm 119.
Psalm 119 is unique because it is the longest chapter in the Bible. This book captures the essence of God's Word and its transformative power to light our path, strengthen our resolve, and deepen our relationship with our Creator, Jesus Christ.
I pray you will commit to reading through this daily guide and praying for yourself, your family, and those around you. I also pray that the words from Psalm 119:105 will lead your heart as you pray.
Psalm 119 teaches that the more a person devotes time and energy to Scripture, the clearer one understands his direction and how to exemplify Christ's love to those around him. As we pray, let us ask the Holy Spirit to instruct our minds and inspire us to be instruments of His love, grace, and peace. The Bible is not just a book but a powerful tool that can equip and encourage us in our daily lives.
I offer this prayer for you as you take part in this prayer guide:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, grateful for You and Your Word.Lord Jesus, I ask your blessings on the people as they read through Scripture and pray; may the time spent with You bear fruit for the Kingdom of God as we exemplify You and humbly seek Your daily guidance.
Lord, help us store Your Word in our hearts and be doers of Your will as we treasure Your teachings and invite the Holy Spirit to use them to transform us.Lord, take our willingness to be faithful servants, and may we be found faithful to spread Your light and love throughout this world.
Thank You, Lord, for calling and commissioning us to live in a way that glorifies You and giving us the tools to share the Gospel with everyone.
In Jesus Name Amen.
With a Grateful Heart,
Pastor Jay Johnston
